Cross Bones front driving lights
Just installed two front lights on my cross bones but have no clue on how to hook them up. I can either follow the headlight and plug then on the same cable orr???? Any suggestions would be welcomed. I also installed a side mounted license place holder, let me know if you guys want any info on that.

I installed a Heritage Softail light bar with horn on my Bones. I bought it used with no wires. I powder coated everything but the horn black and made my own wiring harness. If your lights are similar, I can tell you how I did it.
Blue Cross Bones - your bike is coming together great.
what brand are those lights? Could you use them as turn indicators? I have the detachable windshield so I cant use the turn signal relocation brackets that everyone else is using?
Can you post a picture of where they attach to the bike?

Thanks trojan, I also have a detachable wind shield but unlike you I kinda like the turn signal lights where they are. YES you can use them as turn signals just change the color glass lenses. As far as brand is concerned I dont know but I think there kuryakyn. I used the main headlight orifice and ran a long 3/8 threaded shaft and connected them to each end,of course I cut it to size and also added some nuts in order to adjust the vertical angle of the main light as well as the side lights. I had to tap the lights since they were not 3/8 they were ..uhm I think 5/16. I have not tested them but they look inconspicuous and I like that. Any other questions feel free to ask.

Do you want these lights to be active whenever the bike is on like your headlight or do you want to be able to turn them on and off? Either way, I think it would be best if you made a harness for these lights rather than piggybacking them off the headlight. I am no pro in the electronics area but I do know how to wire most things and I tend to do things based more or less on how the MOCO does or how the original manufacturer of a part suggests. I am guessing that your lights did not come with instructions?
In my case, I looked at the instruction sheet for the Harley passing lamp kit for springers and recreated my own wiring harness based off that with a few modifications. Essentially, I bought a relay which I mounted under my seat and then ran all the wires to and from it accordingly. Terminal 85 on the relay is the ground so I just ran a wire from it to the same ground point as my battery. Terminal 30/51 is the power input so I ran a wire with an in-line 15 amp fuse to it from the accessory plug that is located in front of the batter. Terminal 87 is the load which sends the power to my lights so I ran a 12 gauge wire from it underneath the tank and out of the front of the tank where the stock light wiring comes out at. I spliced both of my lights' power wires into this one load wire. Now all that is left is terminal 86 which is the trigger. This one can be done a number of way depending on what you want your lights to do. If you want to be DOT legal and all that you would run a wire from this terminal to a spot where you mount a switch. You connect this wire to the outgoing terminal of the switch and then connect a wire from the incoming terminal of the switch and splice the other end to your headlight's low beam wire. This will let you turn the lights on and off and also turn them off automatically when you switch to your high beams. If you want to be able to turn them on and off but not have them go off when you turn on your high beam, then you can splice this wire into any number of wires that have constant power whenever your bike is on. This could be the wire that feeds the light in your console for example. If you just want the lights to come on with the bike and don't think you want the option to turn them on and off, you can just run this wired directly to the console light as above and just leave the switch out. I actually did mine this way simply because I was not sure where I wanted to mount the switch. I am thinking that I will probably mount my switch under the seat so that I don't have to add anything to my bars. This being the case, I spliced my trigger wire to my tail light's run light feed which is constantly on with the bike. This made it easier for me also because I can splice into this wire right there under the seat, eliminating the need to feed a longer length of wire, under the tank and up to my console. For now I have it direct so that my lights come on and stay on with my bike until I can find a switch that I like and install it.
I bet this all sounds confusing as $h!t but it is actually a pretty simple concept once you know how it all works. You can look at this site if you want and see how they diagram the thing out.

Or just ask if you need me to clarify anything.
Good luck.
Thanks for the write up, I think these are the lights:http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go...ID/86/IMID/100
I bought them used so I dont even know if they work or not, No instructions. I wanted to hook them up directly to the standard running light so would you still suggest a relay? If so what do I do with terminal 86? Thanks

Anyway, instead of attaching the clutch side mounting tab or the springer relocater kits I've seen for sale on the mounting boss that is now covered by the windshield quick release, I think it would be possible to use the same tab or kit and attach it to the upper or lower shock mount if you increased the bolt length by 1/4". By my guesstimate the rear of the turn signal lights will clear the windshield and you can conceal the wiring by running them towards the center and under the headlight.
I'd value any input or pics anyone has on this issue...thanks.
