Default Night Train questions

Im in Afghanistan and Ive been looking in here for the next mods for my 06 NT. I got the service book and basic tools at home. I got a few questions that I would like a lil help with.

1- How hard is to take off the fork sliders? I would like to get them powder coated
2- What size front fender do I need with a 120 front tire?
3- Have anyone power coated the heat shields form vance and hines big shots?

Any help would be apreciated

1. the fork sliders are not hard to take off. after you drain them, there is a bolt straight up underneath them to take out. and a retaining clip above the seal. you will need a special tool to install the fork seals or you can make your own with some pvc pipe. i powdercoated mine this year and it was worth the little time and effort.

2. not really sure, but am interested in this also

3. regular powder coating is not reccomended for exhaust OR heat shields. make shure you get someone who does thermal coating. i have seen regular powder coat on exhaust AND heat shields and its not pretty. smells bad too.

1. The lower sliders aren't bad at all. If you do a search on this forum there used to be a write up on it.

2. No idea. May 5 inch. Guesstimate.

3. Gotta ceramic coat em. Did the front heat shields for my V&H big radius.

Good luck with your mods! Can't wait too see em.

it is a fork seal installation tool. harley sells them, or you can make your own with a piece of PVC pipe that is just big enough to slide over the upper fork leg. then sand or grind down the outside of the pipe so that it fits inside the lower fork tube and use it kind of like a slide hammer to pound the seal into place.
