Default Newbie question

I am a rookie to riding. Purchased my first bike, a 2006 Heritage Softail in May. Love the bike and the riding experience. Please excuse this basic question. I saw a "live to ride" air cleaner trim that I would like to get; however, I'm not sure how it fits with the original air cleaner. Do they go over the center or does the center come off the oem and replaced by the new medallion? Thanks for the help. I'm sure I will be doing alot of searching and asking questions.

I just fitted an H/D 'Flames' center trim to an 09'.
The original center trim is attached to the air cleaner assembly with an adhesive tape and easily removed using a heat gun. Without heat, you will likely destroy the original piece and scratch the air cleaner due to the aggressive adhesion.

Nick is right, use a heat gun or hot hair drier to warm the ring up and you should be able to get it off.
Just don't do it on the bike and be careful of scratching the chrome.
Even though its going to sound a little strange don't try to hold the cover bare handed, wear a glove.
Take my word for it, even a stupid hair drier can get a thin piece of sheet metal hot enough to burn you (and leave fingerprint burns on the metal) if your not careful.
