I forgot, along with the plug kit you will probably have to carry a small pump of some sort.

look at StopNGo, they have a kit that has mushroom plugs, not string plugs, inserting tool, CO2 canisters. They also have a small pump that can be purchased that plugs into cigarette lighter and clips on the battery. Even a plugged tubeless tire needs to be replaced ASAP. I wouldn't ride a plugged tire any longer that I absolutely had too.

I heard about Spreads Tire Seal in a TV ad. Is a green liquid you insert in your tire before inflate it. It is supposed to instantly fill the hole in your tire and seal it without air loss while you are riding. They say it works also on motorcycles but I never tried it.

I had a flat about a month ago and used the "repair kit in a can". I used two cans and the stuff just does not work. I have a spoke rear tire. What it do was make a big mess of the rim inside and out so a new tire and tube was needed. I still have hard crap on the rim that just will not come off. Don't use it. Maybe it works better with tubless tires.

I was in a dollar store one day with my wife and came across this bottle of a gel type substance for fixing a flat I bought one. A few months later I had one of them slow leaks. Every time I brought a tire in with a slow leak to my local town fair tire shop they would ruin the tire they would plug it and make it worst. I decided to use this yellow gel. I let all the air out of the tire and removed the nail it had a whole in the tire that i could see about an 1/16 inch i removed the valve from the tire I cut the tip in the plastic bottle it came in pumped in the recommend amount. you then put in the valve and inflate the tire to recommend tire pressure and jump in right away and take it for a ten mile ride. came back after the ride topped of the air. it is now a year and a half and that tire is still alive and well. only problem you have to have an air source to do this but i swear by it on my car and will never go into a tire shop for a flat again. went back and bought a half dozen bottles to keep on hand the stuff originally cost $10.00 and I have seen it at sears
