I have this on my Deluxe and even though the distance is good for me, the position is odd compared to my last bike. You rest your feet on top instead of out to the side. Does it bother me enough to change it, no, but for someone with longer legs, you would want to add pegs, or go with the regular bar.
I am a tall guy (35 inch inseam) and I guess I have an opposite experience. I had Lindby moustaches on my 98 Heritage and loved them.
When I wasn't on the boards, I had the option of either placing my feet directly on the moustaches, or for a VERY relaxing postion, placing my ankles over the moustaches and stretching out...most comfy.
I now have a set on my Electra Glide (been on there for about 12 years now) and would NEVER consider removing them.
Does anyone have mustache bars on a Heritage? Do you like the integrated highway pegs? Pros and cons? Anyone that has pics of your ride with them, please post.
Well, I guess I am in the minority here. I have the HD mustache bars (not Lindby) on my '08 Heritage and I really like them. My inseam is no more than 32 inches and I use the integrated pegs often and like them. They offer a nice change-up from the floorboard position, at least for me. Besides, like others have mentioned here, the mustache bars look cool. Just telling it, like I see it.
I was actually in the process of replying to this right after you posted but something came up.
As someone else commented, you've probably already bought them so this probably won't make much difference.
If you haven't, I got mine from American Classic on ebay as they had the best price I could find. A lot of people have bashed them on this site but I had no probably with them. Fast delivery and the bar was new.
I'm a short feller so I'd have to really stretch out to get my feet on it but that's ok. I was also going to post pics (other than my sig pic) but it looks like azrenegade took care of that.
Good luck.
Let me know if you guys need these bars. I had the Lindby on my ride for a while and hated them too. The rubber pads are up too high for my short as s legs. Discounted forum pricing for everyone here!
I love mine 30" inseam and they fit great. I think my sister looks funny on her delux with her nostalgic crash bar and pegs, feet spread out like goin to the gyno lol
I originally bought it thinking I could kill two birds with one stone but I found the footrests to be not so great. Too far in. Better than nothing but I decided to add footpegs. Got the HD 360 which are adjustable.
After putting the standard chrome guard on the wife's Deluxe I think I now like the look of them better.
If you get the moustache bars, get them because you like the looks, not for functionality. Pegs are much more useful.
