I'm looking at 3" extensions for my 05 softail standard, has anyone done it? The only thing that I'm worried about is that it will move the kickstand
and all the weight of the bike will be on the alum extensions
They would not sell them for your bike if that were going to be an issue. think about the liability Ness faces with issues like that. I can get them for you too!

Thought about the same thing before I got mine. Had them on for about 2 years now, no problems.
cycle visions make a 2" kit. I am 5' 11", or 6' depending on the scale it seems. The 3" kit does not seem to be too much of a reach. You got any buddy's with a dyna with forward controls? If you can reach their controls, you should be fine with 3".
