Looks good with no cover. I need one. Funny thing is, I don't like the rubber hoses. Now some braided hoses with anodized fittings would look awesome..
I figure with the black hoses its really not that noticable but it will be with bling on there....just a thought...I wanted it totaly for function and to be nearly invisiable...
Keep thinking about the cooler. Always wonder weather I need one or not. Especially running a 103 engine
still thinking about it
Cooling is negligible with the factory cooler...its tiny...and passive coolers only really work if you pass air through them..I ran real world tests on my Stage 1 FLSTFB...w/o and with cooler... I did not see anywhere near 20 deg drop in the oil temp....
I don't see how that factory unit has the heat transfer surface to achieve that kind of reduction. Only way I would believe that is if someone posted differential head temp logs b/a installing the cooler.
That cover looks great blacked out. If you don't mind my asking, how much does something like that cost?
I had that done here in Malaysia, I think prices don't translate. I paid 50 Ringgit for it to the HD dealer, for the locals it is a lot of money but translated in $ comes down to about $14 - 15?
Any day now the Ultra Cool softail oil cooler/fan should be coming out. This will really keep the temps down on your ride. As soon as they are available I will be getting one for my bike. This unit has a built in fan and thermostat that keeps the temps down. Here is a link to their sitefor more info. Yes, Dr. V-twin sells Ultra Cools at a discount everyday. http://www.ultracoolfl.com/
