Just finished my redo project on my 06 softail and part of it was to install a H.D auto chain tensioner. I’ve noticed after getting the bike up and running again there’s a different sound almost a winning coming from I think the primary now. Is this normal when changing from a manual to auto tensioner?
I just did this up grade on my '03 Deuce 09-17-10 and have the same issue. After a 300 mile trip the heat shields on the exhaust were vibrating from the whine. Next day I took it to a local independant shop and of course it didn't sound as loud after a cool down. He told me to pull the inspection cover and check the chain tension, to me it seams awfull tight but has some movement. My bike has 20,000 miles and after installation of the new part there wasn't much room for shoe movement, ajuster was pretty close to the install height before pulling the retainers off.
