Default My 1st Harley.

First, let me say thank you for allowing me to be part of the group.
My name is Bobby Field, I'm from Londonderry, New Hampshire, [southeastern part of New Hampshire], I was born in 1958 and I'm permently disablied from an accident back in 2003. I got up to 396 pounds after I became disablied from all the meds they had me on and from not working, I had stomach Gastric By-Pass back in Dec. 2008 and am now 195 pounds. A weight lost of 205 pounds in one year !!! I took my Dad in to live with me 4 years ago in my one bedroom condo. I gave him my bedroom and I sleep on my living room recliner. He was told back in 2000 that he has Stage 4 Prostate Cancer and only had a year to two years to live. That was back in the year 2000 ! The only thing he did for treatment was to get a womens hormone shot every 6 months. Last September he crashed his car, [floormat went over the gas pedal in his 2000 Cadillac Eldorado] and he went out though the woods and totaled the car. The cops brought him to the hospital to check his blood/alcohol amounts, and found out that not only was he not drinking, but he now has full blown AML Leukemia and has only one to two months to live. That was back in September of 2009 ! The doctors can't believe that he's still here ! The only thing he did was to get 2-3 pints of new blood every month, then every two weeks, and now every week. Two weeks ago he started getting chemo. I don't know how much longer he has to live. We take it day to day. He just turned 70 yrs old last Dec, 2009. He was in the water well drilling bussiness from 1958 to 2000 when he was told he has Cancer, and he sold the bussiness. I worked for him from 1973 doing both running his company for him when he was away, doing office work, purchasing and billing, drilling the wells operating the equipment and repairing the equipment, being the manager, payroll, etc. So, my Dad and I have a long history together. He was the one that got me into motorcycles, as his Dad had motorcycles [old 1920's Indians, and Harley's that he rode on the streets, and he also did board track racing and hill climbing.] My Dad also got me into the hot rods, as he also did custom car shows doing the AutoRama's in the early Sixties. He bought me my snowmobiles and mini bikes when I was young, starting me riding when I was only 7 yrs old. Things grew from there !!!
I have a few friends that all ride Harley Davidsons. From full blown choppers to Roadglides. I just bought my 2000 Harley Davidson on July 30th, 2010. It has 28,800 miles on it now. It had 28,300 miles on it when I bought it. It has a LOT of chrome work done to it, LOT's of engine work done to it, and it HAD saddlebags that the owner took off it, but left the saddlebag mounts on it. Don't know what kind of bags were on it, and we [dealer and I] can't tell from the mounts ? They are two pieces of 12-14 inch wide by 6-8 inches high flat plate steel mounted to a piece of tubing that goes around the back of the fender and under the tailight. I've taken it off for now as it kinda looks stupid with it on and no bags mounted to it.
Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself to you all, and tell you a little about myself and my backround. I'm glad to have meet you and will look forward to future chats.

Here is a couple of links to photos of my new to me 2000 Harley Davidson Deuce and my Hot Rods that I have and some racing photos of me.
I was 1985-87 International Show Car Assoc. Custom Pick-up World Champion and showed these two cars from 1983 to 1996.
I also raced pro motocross from 1973 to 1978.
I've been riding bikes and snowmobiles since 1966 to present.
Nothing like it !
This is my first Harley Davidson out of a very long list of motorcycles over the years. Some say that I've finally have come over to the "dark side" !
Enjoy !
Bobby.

Thanks man !
I see you've got a Pontiac Trans Am GTA.
What color is it ?
Those were the "top of the line" Trans Am's of the day and were very nice !
I had a Gold 1978 Trans Am with a 455ci big block and 4 speed back in 1981.
You've also got a nice looking Cross Bones there.
Best of luck to you and I'm glad to have meet you. I look forward to chatting with you here.
Bobby.

Nice intro. Welcome...it's never too late for your first Harley. Don't whine when the wife gets mad cause you want to stay on HDForums when you're not riding.

Thanks Irays,
I don't have any wifes or girlfriends at the moment, so I guess I'm good ?
LOL !!!
I just have my sick 70 yr. old Dad living with me who I took in to live with me 4 years ago that I care for.
He has Stage 4 Prostate Cancer and now AML Leukemia.
I try and do my best to care for him, and try to survive living on my Perment Disablity monthly check of only $800 per month.
It's not easy, but I try and do my best.
My bike is for the weekends to clear my head and try and remove any stress that I have.
Bikes are the best things for stress relief ! You never see a bike in front of a shrinks office !
LOL !!!
Nice to meet you, and also look forward to future discusssions with you.
All the best,
Bobby.

Thank-you Nick and Colin.
I ran into a friend who is friends with the guy that used to own my bike.
He told me that there was tons and tons of work done to it, and the guy was really fussy about maintaning the bike and taking care of it.
He told me that the bike has been rode to Milwaukee and Florida without any problems.
He called his friend and left him a message to get back to him. He is going to get me all the info on what's done to the bike. He told me that it does have a "stage-2 " kit, 41mm carb. and a lot more that he will find out for me.
I can't wait to finally know what my new toy has done to it ?
I'll post my findings as soon as I find out myself.
Thanks for all the help.
Bobby.
