I've decided to go with red rims on my 2010 Deluxe. I think they would look cool with the wide white walls. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a few things:

1. Should I powdercoat the existing rims red or purchase new rims?
2. Should I go with all red or red rims with chrome spokes.

If anyone has any pics I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Chrome spokes, for sure. Cheaper to just coat your rims, if you don't mind the downtime.

Supremo, do you know if the wheels need to be taken completely apart for powder coating?

I've never done it, but I believe the hoops would have to be dipped to remove the chrome, then powdered. You'd want the spokes and nipples removed or it probably wouldn't turn out very nice.

Red rims, stainless steel spokes, and white walls. I would get a 21" for the front and sell my old wheels. I have wanted to do this to my bike for a while but still ahve not gotten around to it. My bike has the red pin stripe on the black paint so I think it would really fit.

It you go all red, that's too much red. Especially for such an aggressive colour. The chrome spokes wold give it balance.

If it were me (like I have the money...hah!) I would use this as an excuse to justify some new Ride Wright wheels! Do as Dr. V-Twin suggested and put a 21" up front. It would be really awesome then.

However, it's your ride. So you need to do what YOU want and are comfortable with.

With the money that has to be spent to disassemble the wheel it makes more sense to get new wheels. I looked into this as well, and decided it was better to do it all at once with new wheels and sell the old. I forgot to mention you should do the rim and hub red.

I think the rim and hub powder coat with chrome or stainless spokes looks the best. Problem with doing this route is cost due to having to have the wheel taken apart and then re-laced after powder coat. Make sure you see samples of the red first as there are many different shades. Too dark or to bright doesn't look right in my opinion so try to see samples or find someone that has the color you like on their bike first.

Didn't have the ***** to do this to my HD so I bought a second bike. Kawasaki Vulcan 800 that I plan to bob or rat out and am going the flat black paint, red rim and whitewall route as soon as winter comes.

Please post up pictures of your ride once you have this completed as I am anxious to see how nice this is going to look.
