I had my disc brakes(rotors) powder coated along with a bunch of other stuff,no problem..just take it easy the first few miles, the pads burn off the pc paint and leaves the brake surface area shiny(for obvious reasons)...nice finish, looks good and goodbye to rusty rotors
ok,i was stupid and typed it wrong,i want to paint the centers of the rotors to match the bike.ive seen black ones the stealer has but i want to see pics of different colors on diff bikes
I figured that. I did not think that anyone would wish to paint their friction rings, I figured it was your carriers.
I rarely cared about color but I had my FXR carriers and calipers Powder Coated black. No issues as well as on my Black Dyna. Photo for your inspection. Again, Joe Knapp (powdercoater link above) can do it and so can you send yours out.

WHAT! he coated the whole rotor! man that is so dangerous, plus the powder will ruin your pads, or did you mean that he masked those areas?
well i guess that is not much help, here is why you do not want to coat the whole thing...
The heat from the pads eating it will two toned the powder where the heat traveled. Powder is an encasing and the heat WILL travel across the resins and do that. it gets lighter for the first 1" in then normal color. I wouldn't be surprised if that burned part got seriously weakened also. just wanted to explain myself bud, did not want you to think i was just talking out my ear.
Yep the whole lot was powdered..those pics were taken after about 50 miles and the powder was'nt completely burned off..that was done about six months ago, theres no discolouration whatsoever on the rotors now..and never had a problem with the brakes at all. will take some pics tomorrow and pop them in here for you to see..
Didnt take long, maybe a week or so of riding and the powder was burnt off from the brake surface.. the remaining black powder finish did'nt discolour and have had no probs...
The pc'ing of the whole rotor was also a alien idea to me but the custom bike builder who pc'd my stuff has done bunches of them in the past and to his own builds with no negative effect..
'NOTE'--- after pc'ing take it easy riding..untill the pads have worn off the paint.
