Very funny! Remember I did get the rain suit and I was ready to ride in the rain. Just got lucky! Ya want to look at that JD vest?

My bike is scratch free so far. Have had it 3 1/2 month and have pver 3000 miles on it. I don't worry about scratches. I plan on getting a custom paint set in the future so I figure if it gets a scratch in it now no big deal.

I am kinda the same. I stress over every little thing when it comes to my bike. But, I dropped mine the first day I had it (disagreement with the sidestand), actually within the first few minutes. No major damage, just a scratch here and there. I have replaced all the parts that were damaged (derby cover, clutch lever, etc.). Now all I have is a very small ding in the tank that reminds me "Don't take things so seriously", these little bits of "Character" are part of what makes your bike yours. So ride it like you stole it and don't stress.

Bought a brand new 04 Fat Boy, brought it home and started to install a backrest. The damn Torx head socket promptly popped out of the bolt and did nice number on the paint on the rear fender. You could barely see it as it was at the edge but I kicked myself for months afterwards.

Hey Garett!
Might be a mild case of OCD. I share the same afliction myself.
You just need to tell yourself the many things in life are behond
our control. And obsesing about it won't make it go away. Just
ride it and enjoy it for what it is. Hope this helps man.

man im having some bad problems , or so i think , had a couple of things wrong with bike , cables ,chrome scratched etc... dealer took care of it all of course , had a rock fly up and hit my tank, put a chip in it , i had it painted , the whole tank ,and front fender due to a small scratch, now i just seen like 4 tiny white dots on front fender, real tiny , 1 on tank in front , lil specs ,look like buffing compound but wont come off, since ive owned this bike ive done nothing but nitpick all of it , and its killing me , stressing me out bad, is anyone else out there like me? i know this is a bad demon to have , its making me a bear to even be around , and well the dealer im sure hates me by now, 2000 miles on my bike , deep down i should be happy just to be able to have one , not act like a idiot, but seems like everytime i ride i see something new , how do i cope or get past this guys , someone has to be the same way i hope? is it just my new bike that has this luck , all my buds say look at others bikes , but i just look at them from feet away all is good ... when its yours ya see everything?.............. serenity now.......
Let me borrow that scratched up piece of crap for a coupla weeks. I'll get rid of that stupid front fender, and then do my normal daily to-from work ride behind log trucks, school buses, and up and down some gravel roads. Then you can have yer bike back. Well, after I ****** yer springer off to put on my Sloptail, swap my front onto THE MAMA's Suzuki, and slap that li'l ol' So-pukey front end onto yer bike. Yer bike'll look like it's a ridin' machine and not some garage-toy!

In udder words, ride the dang thing and quit bein' a sissy about it.

Hey OCD can be a good thing! I stress over new stuff for about a couple months...then inevitably the first scratch or ding happens....Its OK....You CAN cover it up or paint it later....besides no one else knows its there.......At least thats what I repeat over and over until I convince myself. The thing I have found is that no matter how careful you are some other ding dong will come and mess up a perfectly good thing...so why not do it yourself and deprive that despot of the pleasure!?

Glad to see I'm not the only one. The day I picked up my 06 Fatty I let a friend take it for I spin I followed him in his SUV. When he parked my bike I noticed he left the engine running so I got out of the SUV to go turn it off, and as I approched my bike it just fell over. Turns out he didn't put the kickstand up down right. My bike had 24 miles on it. I replaced the derby cover, mirror, but not the passing light yet. Everytime I look at that passing light it reminds me of that moment. My bike is black so I always see the swirls the dealer put on when they "prepped" it. Next time I buy a bike I'll ask them not to prep the bike, I can do better job myself. When I brought the bike in for the 1000 mile check up, the dealer scratched the rear fender when removing the seat, a deep one too. Last week they touched it up, don't know how they did it but it's good as new. It took them two weeks. I ride to work everyday and cruise every weekend, I ride as often and as long as I can, but I still can't help obsessing about keeping it clean. What's wrong with that?
