Default pickyness killing me

man im having some bad problems , or so i think , had a couple of things wrong with bike , cables ,chrome scratched etc... dealer took care of it all of course , had a rock fly up and hit my tank, put a chip in it , i had it painted , the whole tank ,and front fender due to a small scratch, now i just seen like 4 tiny white dots on front fender, real tiny , 1 on tank in front , lil specs ,look like buffing compound but wont come off, since ive owned this bike ive done nothing but nitpick all of it , and its killing me , stressing me out bad, is anyone else out there like me? i know this is a bad demon to have , its making me a bear to even be around , and well the dealer im sure hates me by now, 2000 miles on my bike , deep down i should be happy just to be able to have one , not act like a idiot, but seems like everytime i ride i see something new , how do i cope or get past this guys , someone has to be the same way i hope? is it just my new bike that has this luck , all my buds say look at others bikes , but i just look at them from feet away all is good ... when its yours ya see everything?.............. serenity now.......

I'm the same way. Of course, I want my ride to stay clean and stratch free. I can fix the clean part, but the stratch free part is going to be hard to control. Only way to control this is not to ride and having a Harley in the garage....well, we know how that is....GET OUT AND RIDE!

A few weeks ago, I was putting my passenger pilion back on. There is one flat-head screw that holds down the back part of the pilion to the rear fender. While I was tightening it up, the screwdriver slipped and gouged the rear fender. I WAS HOT!!!! [:@] Only had myself to blame. I've gotten over it and I still notice the scratch, but it does not bother me as much.

If you ride it, chances are, something is going to hit it (rocks, sticks, bugs, etc.). Everytime I see a gravel truck heading towards me, I can imagine a rock skipping off the road and pinging my ride.....I just cringe [sm=smiley26.gif] Happened to me when I was in my truck months ago. I literally saw the rock skip off the road and pop the top corner of my windshield. Cracked it good! Let's see......gravel truck traveling 60mph.....my truck traveling 65mph.....125mph Rock!!!

Are you the same way with your other vehicles (cars, trucks)?

Garet I'm pretty bad myself. However, to keep myself from going completely neurotic I have talked myself into not letting it bother me...ok, as much! I always find that the more you worry about a certain thing happening thats what usually does. Bottom line is you gotta let a little of it go or you will never enjoy your bike. Just my 2cent$.

I scratched my rear fender when I was doing some work and put my pass. seat back on also. I later put a gouge in the front fender. It just took a part of the clear coat off. But the worst I ever did was drop mine less than 24 hours after I had it. Talk about sick. Just a big brain fart while trying to get use to the ride. A cop friend of mine said that I was a "crack baby" I was than told to relax, breath deep, and get over it. Thats what i did, now I ride and enjoy myself.

I did the same thing-dropped it in a parking lot the first day I had it. Scratched the derby cover up. I got off easy, no other damage.

We all bought motorcycles, not random collections of paint and chrome to worry about. Ride the hell out of them. A few scratches let people know it ain't a trailer queen.

I used to be into hotrods and show cars, I got out of it because I stressed out over every little ding and nick. I feel the same way about the bikes but it doesn't usually cost as much.

Did you buy the bike to ride or show? It's too easy to obsess with these toys. No one sees the scratches/paint chips when your in the wind. Just ride it.

You may need to get a second bike. One to ride and one to look at.

Both mine have dings and scratches from the road. None of which would be there if I left them in the garage. But that ain't happening.
