Can anyone tell me how the Heartland axle cover are fitted? Do you have to remove the wheels at all?

Wheel removal is not necessary when installing the Hartland axle covers. The front axle covers are attached by a threaded rod that goes through the axle. If I recall I had to drill a hole in a plastic insert in the axle, but it wasn't any problem. The covers are just screwed on. Be sure to use some Lock-Tight. The rear axle covers are held in place by a spring that is inserted through the axle. Needle-nose pliers are needed to hold one end of the spring so you can attach it to the other axel cover. Both attachment methods work well and I've had no issue in the 2 years they’ve been on my Rocker.

I attached a pic of the Heartland parts, so you can better imagine how they are fitted.

No allen screws. The threaded rod screws on each end of the axle covers.

The front kit comes with a new front axle bolt pre-drilled. It looks like a HD replacement Rocker part.
Just replace the stock bolt for the new one. Add alittle loctite to the thread and hand tighten the axle covers.
I just knocked the plastic plug out of the rear axle and fed the spring through. Using the "tool" they send with the rear kit, grab the end of the spring and pull until you have enough to attach the spring to the cover.
The front uses a full length threaded rod that passes through to the other side to mount them.
The rear uses a spring that attaches to a drilled out mount on each cover to hold them in place.

I went with the flush mount on the front axle and the heartland for the rear axle. Kinda liked the combination of the two.

I have to agree, give the boys at Dr V-Twin a call they will get you a sweet deal.

A HA! thats how they do it, i was wonderin cuz ive pulled my front tire off like 5 times as of late and cant see how that front axle cover worked w/out drilling as the axle is not hollow all the way through like the rear axle
thanks mang.
