Any Train is a Good Train (2000-2009)! Don't like the way it looks, it responds to almost anything you can dream of doing to it and look pretty damn sweet doing it. Wanna go to a black tie affair or the local watering hole the Train is right at home.
Guess I am the wrong guy to ask, I like the Train series start to finish. All bikes from all years have their own quirks that's what makes then unique and lovable and sometimes unforgetable. Either way you go I think you will be happy....visit the Night Train picture forum, you will find far more praise for the bike than dislikes hands down.
Just my 2 cents.
Got my 07 and have put about 4 k miles on it this summer, this bike is far more than I could have wished for.
Smooth and power to spare 6th gear is awesome dam near at idle running 65mpa. I get complements from people all the time, had a rear tire replace at HD shop *nail* and the guy rides it out and said nice bike man.
I think Ill have this bike for a long time.
Went ahead and sold the sporty she was just setting in the garage.
I went in the showroom in June of 2007 to buy a new Street Bob, and rode home on a new Train. I never looked back.
I'm now sneaking up on 20k miles, and have yet to have a problem with the bike. The tranny did have some noise at first, but I changed to Lucas gear lube and it went away. The biggest issue I have is time and money. Buy the Train, and you'll know what I mean. And you can learn a LOT here!
Good luck!
The only issue I have had with my 08 is the sitting possition. My back got messed up when I was deployed, the streached out possition kills me after 1-1.5hrs. I'll be swaping the bars for softail standard bars shortly to remedy that though.
