That's hilarious! I must say, people around thought I was crazy bursting out laughing all of a sudden. LOL
Anyway, to the OP. It is up to you, man. Personally, I like black, so I'd go black. If you like the chrome FatBoy one, by all means, go that route. It isn't like one shift linkage will determine the the route you go for mods on the rest of your bike. You can do each piece how you see fit.
A good balance of black and chrome can be hard to do (which is what I think you are thinking). If that's what you like, go for it! It would be awesome!
