Default 2007 Security System

I'm buying the 2007 Heritage Classic and I was interested in getting the security system. Does anyone have any experience with the '07 system, good or bad?

Thanks,

Denny

I have the 06 one. I can't imagine there being any difference between them. I could be wrong but it works fine. I had the pager thingee added. It adds the audible alarm; but I haven't gotten the pager yet. I'll get it one day

The 2007 have a slightly different alarm system then the previous years. The system is what I think they call "passive" arming, it turns on automatically when the alarm fob is a certain distance (6' I think) from the bike and disarms when you return. No buttons to push. My salesman was saying that he thought that it could not be by passed like the previous years (using the t/s switches) if you loose the fob, but I 'm not sure about that.

It can be manually armed or disarmed with the turn switches. The alarm is cool because it always arms itself, makes it idiot proof.

Yeah I've got the alarm system on my '07 Heritage - it's cool.

As has been said, it arms automatically within 5 seconds when ignition is turned off. If you try to turn the ignition back on or pick up the bike off the jiffy stand (whilst alarm is armed) it lets out a short warning shriek. It does this once more the if you persist, the the alarm goes off properly. To disarm the alarm, just walk up to the bike with a key fob on your person - in your hand, in your pocket etc. That's it, it's all automatic. Two fobs come with the system, neither has push buttons.

But does the pager work any better? I talked to a guy that had one on an older model and said he was lucky if the pager worked within 1/2 mi. of his bike. I wired a totally different system into mine. I set my alarm, if any body moves my bike or sets off the system they see nothing but lights flash, however I get a cell phone call, usually within 60 sec.,I can than notify local police and they can track the bike for me. I still need to wire in for battery, elec. system, etc. But I have had no problems with mine. I know the works because i forgot to disable and recieved phone call.

I'm pretty sure my 06' can be set to auto arm itself also. I have the Siren II add-on and the Pager II which works great.

I have the alarm on my 07 Heritage Classic. It was on the bike from the factory, so I had no choice. But now that I have I love it. I even bought the chirper/pager. I don't intend on getting the pager receiver, but I like the chirper. It's loud and worth the cost. I ordered mine from Hales HD for about $70.

I have the security system on my 07 Heritage Classic. If you loose the fob or the fob fails you can bypass the security system by following the instructions on the supplied wallet card. Basically holding both turn signals in with the ignition on until the display shows 5 dashes. Enter in your PIN number (that you programmed in previously) by using the turn signal buttons and you can start without the fob. I really like the security system!
