Default Help with New Handlebars

Hey all,

'10 Fatboy Lo... I want to go with dragbars...

I am looking for 2 things:

1. What is the preferred brand(s) I should be looking at?

2. Any advice/lessons learned re: pull-back and height??

Thanks a ton!!

I don't have a Fatboy... but I do like the BR handlesbars. They have a lot of designs available, and will custom build them to YOUR specs!

I went with the Wild 1 Chubbys. Gave me a ton on pullback and some good height. I looked at just getting risers at first, but they really only give you 1-2" of pullback. The factory bars on the Lo really make you learn over. Now I'm sitting up and enjoying the ride even more!

Those look great... the pullback is really what I am looking for... I am not bent over, but arms are completely straight... at highway speed my shoulders get tired fast...

Did you have to monkey with your cables, etc? or did your stock wires make it??

thanks man

Yes...I had to replace the cables. These bars give you about a 12-14" of pullback so you'll need to replace them all. It's a bitch of a job too. They're internally wired bars so you have to get it all through them first. But once they're on...it's really nice. They're these: http://www.wild1inc.com/orderWO560B.html

Good luck!

Now that you have done it.... Would you do it again? Or pay the labor fees?

If you've got money to burn...pay to get it done. If you've got a few days to thread the wiring and can do it without losing your mind... go for it. HD wants about 9 hours labor to do it for you. But you have to make sure you do it right. My buddy took 3 days doing his and a week later had to let HD fix it. Cost him 4 hours of labor.

do you have to run the cables internally?

I have also seen some of the vendors offer to pre-wire the bars.... I wonder if that would make it better?

Hotrodz, are your bars black or chrome?
