Holy crap! I had to go to your profile to see larger version of your picture. At first I thought you had a mannequin staged on your bike because the pic was small, upon a larger visual, I saw you had a mask on!

If you get the 17.5" seat you'll find your feet don't touch the ground as well. Won't be an issue if you're long legged but could be a problem for someone who can just barely flatfoot a Heritage now.

17.5" is what I am looking at. I have no problem at the moment as I am 6' even.

If you buy the seats directly from mustang they give you 10 days to try them out. I bought 2 to try out and sent one back for a full refund. No hassle with them.

If you buy the seat directly from Mustang you will pay too much.

I have over 30,000 miles on my wide vintage solo. For a while I switched to a Corbin with backrest but never really liked it, so I sold it and went back to the Mustang.

I found that the edges of the seat, where it hits under the thighs, were a little hard, so I sent the seat to Mean City Cycles who did their memory foam magic. Now the seat's so comfortable that I wish I had it in the TV room so I could use it more. You can't really go wrong with a Mustang.

Just a word: I've seen a few complaints about the Mustang one-piece seat comfort, but not the solo wide vintage.

I put the wide vintage solo seat on my '94 Heritage Special (FLSTN) back in '98. It was and still is the single best modification I made to the bike. It changed the bike from a "two hour ride" to an "all day ride".

Twelve years later, I still have the bike and the seat. My only complaint is that over the years, large areas of powder coating have peeled off the base, leaving areas of rust I had to repaint. I give them high marks for comfort and style, but poor marks for powdercoat quality.

I bought the one in your top link last week. I can tell you that compared to the one piece HD touring with rider backrest seat I had, it dropped me about 1 1/2" and pushed me back by at least 2". As for comfort, I'm with you I was afraid to spend $600 on a new seat without ever sitting on it, but I can tell you that after 400 miles this week and not anywhere near broken in, this is the BEST investment I have made in my ride yet. After the first 2 hour ride, I had no more numb butt and it made the bike just fit. For me, it was the perfect choice. Being 6'1", 240lbs with a 34" inseam, I needed the extra stretch and these seats support the right spots without being overly pillowy. (if thats a word)

Or I could have just said. "I LOVE IT!!!!"

Oh and you can save some coin on it at Dennis Kirk.

12 Years ago, I doubt it was even powder coat, it was probably just a bad enamel job. Even at that, I would take that kind of wear.
