Drivers backrest - are they really that great?

I have the Mustang 17.5" super wide touring solo seat with removable backrest. ($500 seat!) Now, I do not have a bad back but I NEVER EVER use the backrest. If buying again, I would buy without as it's a $200 upgrade. I've tried it a number of times and it's just not comfortable for me. JMHO

Not sure why but they hurt my lower back
Tried a Firehousecustoms fixed model and when that caused me low back pain I tried the adjustable Mustang. Same thing.
But seems for the vast majority they work great.

i had both but i did not like it in town. on a trip i can make one from the luggage. i changed it out to the regular mustang. it is more a personal and medical opinion.
