Hey, I'm putting my bike back together, got it mostly done, I am not sure what this unit is for, the one wire thats not hooked up I think goes to power, however when I hook it up to power it turns on all lights on the instrument panel and all the rear lights, then when I switch the ignition to the on position it just turns the head light on. if I leave it un hooked all the electrical works fine, the unit says "Badland performance on it" the two wires comming out of it that are hooked up allready are spliced into a bunch of wires that I think are going to the rear lights. I'm thinking I crossed some wires when I was putting the rear fender back on. But thought I would see if anyone knew what this unit is for since I have no idea.
no LED's. the tail light is stock, however the stock turn signals are gone and the license plate cover has turn signals on both sides of it. of course now that I think about it I bet the turn signal bulbs are LED's. Hhhmmm
Thanks brotha, thats a start! I will check it out in the morning, I can do a lot of things when I'm dead tired, but electrical work isn't one. and niether is trouble shooting. that two strikes, don't want to find out what the third one would be.
Do you have flashing brake lights. When I was shopping for a brake light flasher I remember coming across a Badlands unit.
Also, are you sure that connector isn't supposed to go to ground and not power. My brake flasher is powered through the brake wires not via the battery.
I don't know if the brake lights flash, I will have to check that. I baught the bike and only put a couple hundread miles on it before pulling the engine to re-do the bike. well maybe I'm an idiot and am greatful for a place like this to have it pointed out to me. the wire is black, and of course it should be ground. I will hook it up to ground and see what happens. but I think you guys nailed it. the red crimp connector was throwing me off.
