Does anyone have their Softail set up for performance and handling as opposed to stylin-n-profilyn in order to give the Dyna folks a run for their money in the twisties?
For anyone who really knows how to ride, I think a Dyna will still smoke a softail due to the fact that Dyna's ahve more ground clearance and are lighter. Just my opinion. And yes, I ride a softail. That being said, it really depends on who you ride with and how they and you ride. When i think of smoking someone, I think of flying through twisty canyons like on a sportbike. My 883 will smoke guys on any Harley due to it's light weight, shorter wheelbase, and more ground clearance.
LOL. And I don't even own a Dyna! LOL. Just my honest opinion for "fast" riding. I could care less about fast riding, that is why I bought a Harley and am going for a Dyno tune today.

DBLJ..........UH, are you going for the Oxymoron of the year?? Harley's and "handling" are NOT synonomous....sorry!!!
To be honest I think the only Performance handling Harley made is the XR1200. I also ride sport bikes and there is no way on earth a harley is going to handle even close to that.
Now with that said I bet if you take a night train and lower it and shorten the front fork with under tubes or a Marzocci inverted fork. I bet that would be as close to a performance handling softail as you are gonna get.
I have a the Super Brace front mount. Got my 2-1 pipes, AC, and tune set up for street use. Have Amsoil in all three holes.
Looking at front end set ups now, Race Tech and Progressive. I dont plan to lower much if at all. Looking at the front lower fairing air splitter. Trying to find a slightly wider front tire, without going to wide. Might do cams and a front 1/4 fairing down the road. I kick the idea of swapping the bars out for more pull back, but the drag bars seem to do well in turns for me.
My plan is to have nice mild built NT that can hold its own with other Harleys.
Then later do a big bore engine when this one goes out, and maybe take the bike to the drag stirp.
