Default Why Heritage Softail Question

I have pondered this before and thought about asking in the general forum, but decided to go straight to the riders and ask you to avoid this sounding like a troll post…..I hate to diss another guy’s purchase decision. To each their own and all, but……

What is the purpose of buying a ‘Softail’ when the bags cover the rear anyway? My understanding is that the Softail isn’t really the very best ride in the first place in compromise for looks – which aren’t realized with bags covering the rear.

Just curious. My cousin has a Heritage Softail, but to be honest – I don’t think he has the first clue that a Road King would look almost the same and have air shocks to boot. Am I missing something or isn’t the Road King a better choice for that ‘style’ of bike?

The King is a super nice bike for sure. Can't say anything bad about them. I rode both before I bought my Heritage.

The Heritage was a better fit for me. I sit "in" the Heritage and sat "on" the King.

If I didn't buy the Heritage, I would have bought the King. Just gotta see which one is a best fit for you!

The Heritage I selected was assembled to fit me, unseen. They had a couple more of 'em on the floor but with the bars and whatever else?, thissun fit me to a "T".

Its all in the look brother. Nastalgic, vintage, Gangsta, and flat out PIMP! With or without the bags.

I would take a softail shock over a dyna shock any day in ride quality. But I do agree that the King is a nice scooter after a little customizing.

I have to agree with Joe Diver and the others, The Heritage just has the "fit and feel" that suited me. The King is a great bike but I cannot complain about the ride or suspension of the softail family. By the way, thanks for not coming on like a troll and badmouthing the softail line.

It fits me the best and that over rides everything else. Just so happens that I also think it has a better ride than any of the touring bikes I've demoed.
