you can live without the front fender, but the first time you ride in any rain YOU WILL REGRET IT

Shouldnt be any issues legally or mechanically. I have found if your riding on a wet open road you will still get wet, atleast your pant legs. But how often does that happen where the road is wet and there are no car in front of you. I personally think it looks good on the XB

In ref to the post by Kramer, once your wet your wet. The tank and arms block most of the splash youll get.

I guess it just depends on your preferences and the bike. I was riding once with a buddy on a sporty without a fender and it began to rain. I looked over and (yes we both were getting soaked), but my buddy had to finally pull over because the lack of a fender caused a stream of water to come up and hit is face. Can't say exactly how it routed to his face but is was funny sh&t.

To each their own. ride safe.

Well you could always take it off one day and put it on the next. I look at the front fender like a set of windshield wipers on a car. Might look cool without them but wishing you had them when it rained.

If you ever get into some dirty roads, you will have ton of road grime/dirt/rocks in the front part of your Engine fins, cleaning is a PITA .
If you ever hit water standing or wet roads or God Forbid rain, you get a fountain of water straight up of the wheel.
After a few months without a front fender, I realized the look of the front fender is actually equally nice and the function is well worth it.

I took my fender off the day I bought my Springer. If it rains tie a bandana around the front end close to the tire and its all good! I've been 85+ mph on the interstate while it's raining and its worked great.

Well, they used to call me Rain Man for the obvious reason. I figure I've done 15,000 miles in the rain. Guess I'll scrap that idea. Thanks for the input.

If you decide to roll without a front fender, I recommend adding a "Fork Brace".
