My guess is it would be much easier, and cheaper, to do some type of trade. Unless you can do ALL the work yourself, plus painting, you're gonna spend more than the end result will be worth.

If done right, the fat tire/fender looks awesome compared to the 21.

J & p sells some nice low slung rear fenders for a 200mm rear tire. You could trade it twords a Delux but what fun would that be.

For sure, just trade it in. Join the Family and get a DELUXE. I bought mine in feb. 2010.
06 deluxe with 1800 miles for 10k. Its a hard time for alot of people, there are deals out there if you look hard enough.

This is what i did, I have a 06 Standard. 04 Black powder coated Fatboy front end $450 of e bay $100 Deluxe front fender used my 21 rim , tire and brake set up bolted right up. bought a 04 fatboy rear fender $30 ebay cut it down the middle and widened it 2.5 inches $70 tombstone tailight off a forum member. Put the rear fender on looked at it and liked the bobtail fender better so took it off and put the bobtail back on put the other fender on the shelf. Now making a mount for the driving lights out front. I figure I can get a good used set of heritage saddle bags off ebay for under $400. So really not that much $ if you can do the work your self. i say go for it why trade when you have the bike and you can have the satisfaction to make it the way you want it. And on a side note you can always find your bike in the sea of bike's at bike week.

Do u want to sell your rear fender? Does your rear fender bolt right up to the stock struts?

If I can't do the deluxe conversion for a decent price, I may just convert it to an old school bobber. I just hate the rear bobtail fender & I am looking @ a relatively economical way to get rid of it. Besides heartland, anyone know of options for a decent priced flat rear fender that I could basically just bolt up. Trading it in isn't an option. Just bought the bike as a second bike. I paid 11,000 with apes installed. Bike already had a stage one aircleaner with Vance & Hines pipes. I put on a spring seat. It looks cool. I just hate the rear fender. I'd lose around 2 or 3 grand on a trade. Just looking @ different options for rear fenders to make it look better.
