Default Smooth Tank

Has anyone put in the time or effort to smooth out a tank on any softail model? If so please place a pic so we can see how it came out. Looking to do this myself, My brother said that it shouldn't be to hard. He has been doing body work for over 15 yrs. but want to know hot it has came out for others so I don't wast his time. If there is any one out there with a tank from a rocker or a duece I will be willing to possably buy it from you to see how this will look.

I pulled out my fuel gauge, and filled in the hole with some sheet metal. My bike is fuel injected, so I had to be able to have access to the panel on top of my tank, so a buddy of mine made a removable cover for the top of the tank.

What is the purpose for having access? will I need to do the same for a rocker? I've never worked on a bike so kind of clueless.

My bike is fuel injected. On the top of the tank, there is an access panel which houses the fuel pump. The fuel pump wires also run out of the top of the tank. So, I had to leave room for the wiring, and then also be able to access the fuel pump if/when I need to replace that down the road. Roland Sands makes a kit that allows you to move all that stuff to the bottom of a tank, but his stuff is pretty pricey and I didnt want to get that involved with everything.

There is one for sale in the classified section right now. He has good pics of it and I'm sure would be glad to tell you how he did it.

Here is a link to his post.
