Did I do good?
Dont let these knuckleheads get to you. You did not get ripped off. You paid about the going rate for all the labor you had done. In fact I think you may be under a little bit. Most places I have seen charge over $300 just for the 1k service and $300 is about right on for a dyno. Usually takes about 3 hours and $100 an hour is the going rate. Yes I do my own service, but I would not call some retarded for not doing their own.
I apologise in advance if I hurt any ones feelings, I forget how sensitive and politically correct some guys are, sensitive society todays day, I just speak my mind and give my truth full opinion when answering a question, But then again I am used to dealing with thick skinned men. Some of you need to just grab hold of em and suck it up once in a while, if i was this guy I would appreciate people calling me out and I'd learn from it.
I wasnt talking about you bro, you took it pretty well actually lol. I would seriously take some of these guys advise. I understand feeling nervous at first to work on your own bike, I was nervous as well but like said before start small and read read read, you'll have way more dough left for extra mods in what u save in labor, your money though, just advice
[quote=djl;7434351]Another mistake, thinking the dealer techs are more qualified than you. I know there are good ones but even so, they don't have the affection for your bike that you do and they do make careless mistakes. Another mistake is assuming that any mistake is on the dealer tech which is not necessarily true. Dealer techs are loathe to take responsibility for their mistakes and will often times blame the owner.
Nobody cares about your bike as much as you do. If you can read and go step by step, then you can do what the dealer does. You would be suprised how much a journeyman mechanic refers to the shop manual. Take your time, and from now on do it yourself, and save BIG money for other mods. With that being said, you didn't get ripped off.
