Default New Bike

I know this has been asked before, but.....just bought a new Breakout and had the Vans and Hines 2 into 2 Big Radius, Screamin Eagle air cleaner, SERT, and dyno thrown into the deal. That being said, should I have the parts installed and the dyno done immediately or wait 1,000 miles? I am seeing mixed opinions regarding this topic. Also, I am not planning on any other mods, just looking for more air and a better sound. However, I decided to go with the SERT just in case I decide to do more, but also because it seems like a much more effective way of tuning the bike.

I waited but not because I thought it was best. I didn't have the money at the time. Well...I never had the money but I got them anyway.

Why 1,000 miles? If you're talking about the break in, it's 500 according to what I was told and what I've read here. Basically no highway time until then.

Is that for the dyno or the pipes and air cleaner also. Leave it stock until 500 miles?

I'd leave it stock for 500 miles but that's me. That doesn't mean it's going to hurt it if you don't. I had mine stock for 5,000. And I was shocked at how loud it was with the new pipes, after hearing stock for 5 months. As long as I don't get on it, it's not bad enough to get stopped for them.

The dyno is the best break in you can get...

I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I've heard of people doing all those mods to a new bike with 0 miles on it and had no issues with it. If it was me, I would probably wait for the breakin period simply because once the aftermarket exhaust went on I know I would be getting on it a lot so I could hear the pipes. If your not like me and can keep yourself from getting on it like that to hear the pipes, then you don't have to wait if you don't want to. Just my opinion.

You get better Dyno results if you wait until your 1000 mile maintenance. Every service tech I've spoken to both Indy and dealership confirm that you get much better dyno results after the 1000 mile maintenance. The dealer I go through wont even do it until after you first maintenance because they don't want to waste the customers money.
