Whats a guy got to do to get a sprung solo saddle on his FLSTSCI?
I just bought a 2007 Heritage softail springer and I am looking to change the seat out to a sprung solo saddle. I like the aftermarket kits for the Crossbones but havent found anything like that for my heritage. Does anyone know of a place that sells a sweet kit that will give me a clean sprung saddle without having to go to a custom bike shop? Thanks for any help.
I see a lot of people have looked at this thread but no posts were made. No big deal, just an observation. I have found a couple places that offer "bolt on kits" for all softail models. I have heard some horror stories though on a not so user friendly kit. So I have decided to go with a custom kit from NYC Choppers. The guy seemed cool and said he would custom make me a direct bolt on kit for my heritage Springer. I picked one of his seats and he is currently working on the battery cover and mount. I am sure the kit will be nice. The site offers a lot of nice but pricey custom accessories for Harleys and other bar hopper style bikes. I will def post some pictures of the install and before and after style pics.
I've been curious about this too for my heritage. One thing I was wondering is whether the solo sprung seat for the crossbones would work. Haven't seen any info on it.
I was told the crossbones setup will not work on a heritage or a fatboy (unless you want to use an acetylene torch and welder). I've seen a couple of sprung seat options (drag specialties and one in the harley catalog that looks like it may be a drag specialties one) but they don't use coil springs (they use springs that look like very large safety pins) and the seat itself doesn't look like it would be anywhere near as comfortable as a crossbones.
I put a XBones seat on my 05 and it was a quick and painless install. Just drilled and tapped two holes and cut the **** off the area where the spring support goes. Only other issue was the frame cover. Didn't really like it that much but used it cause I wanted to cover all the electrical ****. Just had to trim it to fit my narrower fender.
I'm running a CCI pogo seat set up now and REALLY LIKE IT!!!
I have about a month until I home and am able to install the custom kit from NYC Choppers. I also didnt want to take a torch to my bike. I dont feel Im qualified for that type of work. Im hoping this kit matches up nicely with minimal effort. Its supposed to utilize a crossbones seat. If all goes well it should be exactly what I am looking for.
