Default Stage 1 kit

I just did the installation on a Screamin Eagle Stage 1 kit for my Softail Std. and a set of V&H longshots (SWEET TOO). But as I put on the stage 1 kit and pulled off the factory backplate (plastic part), the directions didn't say to put it back on, just install the provided backplate. Can someone please answer if its also required to put the factory one on also??? It just seems weird to not have the full coverage as before. If anyone has some input on that please let me know.
And for any one interested the Longshoots are nice, LOUD when you throttle down, but bearable at cruising speeds.
Thanks for the input in advance.

The factory backplate becomes a dust collector now. That's where the kit you used benefits from the added air going in. Just put it away for the future use.

yeah, you don't reuse the old backplate. Good luck with the install!

How about posting some pics when you're done...
