Alright so for the most part everything is done. Im taking her out tomorrow morning for another test run. I need to put loctite on the bolts that dont have lock nuts or washers on them and figure out what i'm going to do with the battery cover. The back of the battery cover has a big gap already so airflow is not an issue there. I think im going to get bondo-hair or fiberglass resin/cloth and make a cover over it to waterproof it.

The fender went on easy enough. The hardest part was the alignment of both the top and bottom. The top slid left and right easily to align it but the bottom was more of a in and out movement so if the top was adjusted a lot the bottom had to be re-drilled.

I installed the fender without removing the rear wheel. The only major tools needed where the sockets for the axle. (36mm worked for me I cant remember the other size) and a torque wrench (95-105 ft-lbs) but that was mostly for the license plate bracket. The stock fender was 4 bolts that held it on and the wiring harness easily unclipped. Finding the right plugs was the hardest part since I couldnt get the license plate bracket to ground without sanding it down. After that It was simply getting the wiring and connectors made and waterproofed. The fender slid on over the deep sockets (they helped with the spacing but 1/2" tubing can be used) and marks where made for alignment. This is where I'd recommend a friend to help make the marks and align the fender. Try to make the marks as accurate as possible so you wont have to re-drill anything but it is a fender and the pieces arent the most accurate so be prepared just in case.

Putting it on unpainted is the smartest idea since it will most likely scratch but I used rattle can flat black just to make it somewhat decently matched. After everything is lined up and drilled out mount the brackets on and slide it carefully down between the swingarm and frame. Its a tight fit but it will make it with some TLC. Loosely fit everything and then check alignment. Tighten it all down and you're done Well I would re-torque everything and loctite it all as well. The ECM is normally mounted on the fender (on my X-bones anyways) but I didnt want this and couldnt use the stock cover for it so I took it off its mount and flipped it upside down and zip-tied it on top of the battery. It is extremely secure and thats also why I needed to fabricate the new battery cover. You can loosen the oil tank and fabricate a mount and place the ECM there also.

With cover (sort of)

And dont worry the battery cover is getting another layer of paint. Im considering a bag or something to cover up the gap between seat and fender as well.
