Default Deluxe Fitting Questions

I'm having a hard time getting comfortable on my new '06 Deluxe.

The issue is my right hand, wrist and forearm. I just can't seem to get into a good position with my hand on the throttle - my wrist has too much down bend in it and my forearm muscle gets cramped quickly. I've tried bowing my wrist up, which is more comfortable, but this position doesn't feel as secure because my hand is on top of the grip.

I have stock bars and seat and I feel like the seat pushes me too far forward. I do plan to replace the seat, but also am wondering if maybe the bars aren't right?

I'm a new rider, so any input will be helpful. Thanks!

Bars are inexpensive and very important for rider comfort and there is a huge selection available. You have a nice scooter but it does take a little thought and experimenting sometimes to get it just right and then WOO HOO, 10+ hours a day in the saddle is just so much "oh be joyful"

...provided that you don't need to replace any cables AND that you are not having bars installed at the (gulp...) dealer.

Good point Torquey. Khrome Werks makes good stuff and their website assists a rider in measuring up bars. So bars, butt and feet, get those happy and, well, then the rest falls into place. And yeah, it ain't cheap.

I just sent two days going from stealer to stealer in search of a deluxe for the Mrs. While I was there, I had the opportunity to ride quite a few bikes that I probably wouldn't have thought to try, and quite a few older, "used" bikes with all sorts of different seat and bar combinations. I suggest you try that and see if there is a combination that just feels right.

Not really sure what you're describing. The controls and even the bar can be rotated up or down to fit the rider. But if you're saying your arms are too long for the stock bars then the easiest thing to start with would be replacing the 2" pullback risers with straight ones.

That will give you about 9" of pullback as I recall. If that doesn't do the trick you'll have to find some bars with less pb.

Try adjusting your bars up a little and also adjust your clutch and front brake lever see it that works. If not try and see what type of bar you need and like, take it from there. Be warned, switching out bars can be expensive if you have to change out your cables. When I ride with my stock seat I also feel like im pushed forward more and my bare bones seat pushes me down and back.

You definitely need different bars. I disagree that bars are inexpensive, but it all depends on what you get and if you install them yourself. Having them installed at a dealer and having the wires run internally in not inexpensive, and if you need new cables with them that will add to the cost. I ride with apes as well. It's the only way for me. That being siad everyone is different. Your best bet is to go somewhere with a lot of bikes with different bars and sit on a bunch of them to see how they feel.

It sounds like drag bars might do the trick for you as well. Feel free to PM or email (DREW@DRVTWIN.COM)with any and all questions you have regarding this. I also sell a lot of bars and such to forum members.

I have always found stock bars on any bike I ache ridden to be uncomfortable, especially so on Harley's. The wrist angels are just impossible for any normal person. I prefer my knuckles to be at least shoulder height and facing forward.
