Thanks for the replies on this subject. I was thinking about Custom Chrome kit but now I will give more thought toward HD kit. Had not looked at Demon Cycle yet but will do before making a final decession.
Bought new chrome switch housings, new levers, and new master cylinder from Demon Cycles for only about $150 and they look great.
+1 - Yup, I purchased the same two years back. Chrome quality and functional remains great. The master cylinder housing and perches are identical to the H/D product.
I just had mine done last week. I went with Kury switch housings (they look great and are 1/2 the price of HD) then the rest was H-D (levers, grips and cylinder covers) I did the cylinder covers and they look just as nice too for $80. Kept my switches black, the contrast looks better to me.
I would have gotten different grips but was low on time. The H-D ones are plastic for $70 and could get other brands that are metal chromed for $30. Oh well looks good to me
I changed mine out a couple of years ago with aftermarket. MC did not work properly. Sent it back for a exchange and the new one they sent me did not work properly either. Finally after a month of changing back and forth I purchased a HD MC. Looks and works great.
Go with the HD stuff if you can. I changed out mine to chrome last year and have been very disappointed in the quality of the aftermarket stuff (V-Twin Manufacturing, I think). Bad fitting halves, wonky master cylinder, poor fitting switches, etc. HD was not an option for me since my bike is older and chrome HD controls are no longer available. I plan to get my stock pieces chromed and will put those back on.
I buy all after market because as some one put it earlier in the thread HD is 2 to 10x's others out there, and me personally it has worked fantastic so far! Maybe some people have tons of money to burn but not me, and HD is ridiculous in parts and labor.
