Default Air cleaners

From what I've read,the H.D./S.E. air cleaner(blue one)falls apart after cleaning?In a few catalogs I've ran across a new air cleaner called a "Green Cleaner",100% cotton/oiled type.Has anyone been using this filter,better or worse than a Ness Big Sucker replacement filter,and what about the K&N replacement filter?2005 Fatboy,stage 1.

I have not done it yet. But, I will be going with K&N. That has always been a good solid filter on all my other past scoots. Having an 07 and the new 96 I am being patient to wait and see what all comes out for pipes. Mainly waiting for prices to lower a tad as they always do after everyone comes out with there stuff.

The K&N I have my eye on is a stock replacement. H30-135 and is listed in the Dennis Kirk catalog for $70.99. I like the OEM box on my train so I do not wish to change that. This will be for filter only and a 10% increase in breathing as K&N claims.

I want to know about this too. I have a SE filter and cover on my Fatboy, but would like to put a K&N on it. Can anyone tell which model of K&N I need? Here's a pic of my air filter, obviously replaced the football already. So I guess I have a different backing plate? I bought the bike used and don't know. Thanks for your input. Jeff, I think you should replace the football with a different looking a/c cover, there are so many cool choices. oh yeah, I have a 2002 Fatboy EFI if that helps at all. The only reason the football is cool is because it says what the model is.

Just get a K&N for your stock box. It will work fine and with periodic cleaning, will last over 100,000 miles. If you want a little more air, you can drill holes in the bottom plastic portion of your stock breather cover.

The K&N for the SE Stage 1 is part Number HD-0800. Lists for around $60, just got a new one off of ebay for $33 shipped.

For my '07 Heritage, I bought the Screamin' Eagle® Air Cleaner Backplate Kit P/N 29510-05 plus the miscelaneous required parts (rubber breather tubes, screws, etc), and the K&N filter from Auto Zone. It works great with the stock cover and costs less than buying the entire Screamin' Eagle kit and throwing away the crappy filter and replacing it with the K&N.
