Definitely a wise choice b/c you saved alot of $$$ on the front end. The service manual will pay for itself within the 1st major bike mod...money well spent.

Gotta love those eBay deals! Good win w/the chrome fork set.

Chrome front end installed. I have everything at home to do the rear swingarm. I just have to wait for X-mas to unwrap and install. The license plate relocate next, then Ride Wright wheels and trading my 28.5"ers for cholos. I can't spend it fast enough! Pics suck, but it'll have to do for now.
Hope Santa is good to eveyone! Happy Hollidays!

I got my chrome front end off of ebay last year also. 140 shipped from some dealer up in Fargo ND. Softailgirl found it and posted it. Since the price was so low for the parts I did the dis assembly myself and dropped the fork legs off at my local wrench during the week and he charged me 50 dollars for putting on the chrome lowers. I did everything else and installed the legs myself then. I didn't think having a total investment of 190.00 dollars was bad for a normally 600 dollar kit.

Oh, that also included them putting in the Race Tech front end kit which I also got off of ebay for 230 dollars.

Congat's. Your gonna luv it when it's on there.

I also recently got a chrome lower belt guard, chrome swingarm cover, chrome boomerang frame covers (not insert), and chrome pivot bolt covers. A couple of steps closer to the end.....if there is one.

I'll have the chrome fork cover for sale if anyone is interested. I already have the smooth one. Send PM if interested.
Here's a link to an install i did recently with photos. I only did the lowers but it should assist with the install and also how to remove the top covers. +1 on a manual for your bike.

Where did you find that 30lb torque spec for the 6mm socket screw. I can't find a torque spec for it anywhere. The service manual has a spec for everything so I can't believe they don't have one for this screw. I must be somehow missing it.

Edit: I have since found some online sources with torq recommendations of anywhere from 12-18ft lbs. Unless I find one in the manual I'm going to go with the 18ft lb recommendation by LACHOPPERS in their lowering kit instructions. I'm not comfortable using an air gun for tightening it as some suggest.

In my 2009 softail service manual under the telescopic fork removal & installation section, page 2-60 I think it has the torque at 29-35ft lbs, but I highly suggest not doing this as when I did the screw snapped in half!! Even 12ft lbs is more than sufficient I reckon.
