I wanted one last year , but do to the hassles I opted out.
They had a batch of the combo's that gave trouble.
You had to go too the dealer with the bike to prove your milage, and fill out a form.
$499.00 was the price last year, ouch!!!
I would still like one, it looks great.
Just picked up my bike yesterday after having one put on. It was a bit time consuming, took three weeks to get it back, but at this time of year it doesn't really matter. Drove about 30 miles and it worked just fine, I like the look and really wanted a tach. Yea price is steep, but I believe in never scrimping when it comes to my toys!
I like it and might look into it more this winter after I retire. I don't like the dial style in the ad, but I think others are available. I like a tach on everything I drive. I think the odometer info is stored in the bike's electronics, and will display properly when the speedo is installed. I saw these in the J&P, or someone else's catalog also, but they are pricey.
I finally got around to stopping in at the dealer yesterday to ask about the speedometer change and he said I had to bring the bike down to get the mileage recorded and then they order the new speedo from HD with the mileage preset at the factory. He said the 2011's have the mileage info stored in the ECM.
