Wasn't looking for a Deuce but when they rolled her out I knew I was in trouble. After thirtyfive thousand miles of smiles I'm still in trouble but not with the bike. And as for the rear fender, it's a fuukin' Deuce, dude.
The Rocker came as natural evolution for the Deuce,
It was the 'pro-street' type with the stretched tank, etc. but with the full 'fat tire' thingy.
It is unpopularity is due to the lack of popularity of the whole pro-street bikes that appealed to the non-riding crowd more, and sold a lot when people had money, now that money is tight, the riding community is shrinking closer to its core again, everybody that bought a bike because it was 'cool' sold it.
We are now into Bobbers/Baggers/Cafe racers. etc. the big shops closed, but shade-tree , rsd, and biltwell are florishing , it is all about retro, narrow, mid controls, etc.
On its own rights, Deuce is a great bike, but the stretched tank look is out at least for now, the fact that most of its accessories/parts were not exchangable with other Softies set it even more off.
i dont like the rear fender or stretched tank,and that is really the only big differences with the duece ..imo the deluxe is the most popular bike ..as for the rocker well its fugly and the rocker c is just a little fugly..ill keep my softail springer theres a reason the deuce was dropped..it didnt sell
T'was my first love as far as Harley is concerned. Needed to be black pearl. Then I spotted the Road King Classic which didn't fit at all and then BiNgO - saw the Deluxe. Like they threw the Deuce and the King into a blender and VOILA . . .
At the time I asked my trusty saleslady about the Deuce. She said "Ehh, most people can't tell much difference between it and the Softail Standard and for the difference in price . . .
Personally, I like the rear fender. To me it's a bobtail with a twist.
