Default softail axle

A buddy of mine had the rear axle put in on the left side so the exhaust on his dyna wouldnt have to come off next time for a tire change.... Can this be done on my Heritage? Im thinking of any way so my exhaust dont have to be taking off every other year or so. Maybe save some money too.........
