I been told to get everything loose fit then tighten up everything. And don't forget new exhaust gaskets.
The hardest part is the left side pipe where it attaches to the pipe out of the rear head. Kind of tight quarters for the wrenches, but just take your time. Fishtails took longer to install than any other exhaust I have done but there is nothing difficult.
Not for nothing but how careful do you have to be going onto and off a driveway with the 36ers or 39s? I know nobody see the underside but it would bug me every time I heard the scrape.
Personally I am looking at the 28.5" or the 33" but I can change my mind.
Sorry to resurrect this but I read the whole thread and I still have some Qs,
First of all whats the sound difference between baffled and unbaffled, and maybe in comparison with my V&H true duals with baffles,
also we have a lot of speed bumps on our roads, I'm thinking maybe this might be a problem with the 39s, yes/no? ..bearing in mindthat I'm going to get a Shotgun in the near future, and would be riding at near the lower end of the travel.

I just put a set of the Samson 28.5 inch fishtails without baffles on my Heritage. They are pretty loud, but OMFG, the sound is the sweetest I've ever heard coming out of an HD. They quiet down pretty good when you go easy on the gas.
be smart and go 39 right from the start and save some money there really is not that much difference do it once i had 36 went to 39 i should have listened when i was told what i am telling you now 39 all the way
