Dan Conner, Do you have that on a softail? I haven't found it for FLSTC yet.

JMO.... They are not needed. The only time you need them is when they don't work (going slow with no air flow). 230 is considered normal temp for modern syn oil. 250 or 260 won't hurt good oil at all. I say save your money for something else.

I have to agree with av8or. 55K miles on my ride so far. No oil cooler, and no problems related to engine oil temp. When I tore it down for a rebuild a few months ago all looked perfect. But, if i were to get on I would wait for the UltraCool softail version with the built in fan as that will really drop your temps as this is obviously the purpose of an oil cooler.

If you want to help your bike with oil flow, get the fueling oil pump and cam plate. It will help with the oil volume and.

+ 1 on that question. I saw that cooler mentioned before and it sounds like a great idea.

I know an engineer who built something very similiar and it worked great. Didn't look as good though and the fans were from PC powersupplies so I don't think they will last that long.

My bikes overheats in traffic every summer. Massive traffic jams are a fact of life in Japan. A cooler with a fan is the ticket.

The Ultra Cool is not available for a softail yet as far as I know. I talked to Robert from Ultra Cool a few weeks back and he said it still was not ready. When it is ready, I will be adding one to my ride. Even though I feel it is unnecessary as it is a very cool product.

The reason why I would be tempted to install one is because I plan on going to bike week in Laconia this year and the temps usually get to almost 90 degrees in stop and go traffic for miles and I hear alot of bikes get really hot and have to be shut down because your barley moving. Seems like a good precaustionary move.

I also like the Billetcool. I have had one on my Deluxe for about three years and am very satisfied. No preasure or volume drop. It doesn't have a thermostat and comes with a cold weather cover.
