A darker red might have fit the look better, but it is different.
I talked to Sherry @ DG about a blue leather seat, but she said they had no shades of blue that would compliment the bike's paint job.
I ended up with my current seat at a huge saving on ebay.

I really like the way that color makes the pinstripes pop. Never too pimp!

True ostrich on the FXSTSSE and leather with artwork on the FLSTC. Both were done by Rich’s Custom Seats.

The iPhone camera makes the red on the bike look darker and the red on the seat look lighter?

It started coz the original seat became very hard... I had some super comfy foam added and thought while I'm at it may as well add some....style..

Your sig pic makes the red on the bike quite a bit lighter than the seat shots.
As pointed out, the seat shots look to be almost a perfect match for the bike's pin striping.
You're not going for a subtle look on your bike so the seat works on it.
