If I went with the black, youd need it to match the gloss on your black paint on your tank. If not it will look out of place, JMHO

Mine are now powdercoated. For parts that are in front of the bike and take the brunt of road debris, powdercoating is really the only way to go.

Don't have a heritage anymore but Powdercoat Gloss Black looks great on my Ultra and Sporty ..

With the Color had on the Heritage preferred the Chrome Look for Forks but think Black would look Great on yours...

The only problem with the black is once you do the legs you will want to do the entire front end. A couple of eyars ago I bought a complete black front end from a buddy and was ready to put it on. I sat and looked at my bike for a while and decided against it as I prefer the classic look of chrome. I have since sold the front end to someone here on the forums.

Well U asked,,,, My thoughts would be U need to do more than just the lower tubes to keep the flow of the bike,,, just doing the lowers just don't do it for me..

I've thought about doing some PCing on our bike also.. but IMO the engine guard, air filter cover, pipes and rims need to be done to really flow good.

I am also with drew, the whole front tubes needs done but I'll add that it goes along with the the plate behind the head lamp, then I think the rings or the whole head and driving lights needs it along with all of the windshield brackets.

I know its a lot more work and $$$$ but,,, it has to be balanced to look good and not just something throwed on.
I also thought about PCing the dash panel also.. I did do mine in leather on the top side around the speedo instead of buying one from HD, they didn't have one I liked anyway.

All this is just MO.. I have sit quite a few nights in the garage looking at her figuring out what to do. So far I've just added several leather and fringe mods.. I love to work with leather.

I've added some thumbs of the leather work I've did..

Put studs on the tank panel.
Made the leather cover on the tank dash panel
Made the wraps with Studs and fringe for the front floorboards
Made the clutch wraps with fringe.
Made the fringe on the end caps on the Handlebars..
Made the fringe for the rear mud flap.
Made the fringe for the seat.
Made the wrap and fringe for the can holder..

I know some of its still brown,, I ran out of black dye,, Got it for Chirstmas and I am redoing it soon...

Just saying U can do a lot with leather on a Heritage that IMO goes with the flow of the bike and it easy and really less $$ in the end..

I've even though of wrapping the front tubes and engine guards with leather.....

See Ur not the only one that want to go a little to the dark side...

Still thinking bout U post,, reread it and saw U said U started sanding them.... oppps.
They do have a protective coating on them,,, NOW U've done it..... Ur gonna need something, tell the wifey that its an emergency and U need to PC all the parts to save her.....

Dammmmm wish I'd never read this one,, now I am going to sit in the garage again tonight and figure out what I going to do,,,,,, again........

Thing is, I've got the money to do it,,, I just don't believe in fixing what ain't broke.. Ahhhhh chit,,,, I gotta do something now.......

Mostly convincing Grandma it the hardest thing to do.....

Bottom line is after 39 yrs she'll get over it in a day or two.... I HOPE.
