Hey guys, I'm looking to order chrome shifter linkage from ebay. Since my bike is in storage, could one of you guys tell me the length of the rod on a '09 FLSTC? Also, I've never had mine off before, do you know if it's a revers thread on it? Thanks for your help and sorry to be a pain in the a$$, but you guys are all such great help when it come to my winter stockpile of parts to put on for the spring. Just wish my garage was heated so that I could keep her at home and get this stuff on the bike while there's snow on the ground....

I hope this helps. The OEM number for the 09 Softail shifter rod is 33719-79B. Not much has changed for this part as it has been the same since 79 with a few slight execptions. I measured my old rod at 10 3/4" keep in mind this is the rod only and doesn't include the ends. The ends are about 1" each. This is only by speculation on the ends, I did not measure them. The thread on the rod measures at 1" on each end and is standard right hand thread on both ends.
Cheers
OK, just to add to my question before I order something... Have any of you guys come across a cheap chrome linkage? all I really want is something very simple, but I can't seem to find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg....
check out the chrome shift linkage covers at your local HD shop, online or in the 2011 P&A catalog. You may want to use a chrome cover until you decide on a theme specific shift linkage $100 - $130.
It's only $40 for the chrome HD linkage covers....I got one and think it looks pretty good rather than spending like $130 which I'm not willing to do for a linkage...JMHO!!!
No, that's not bad, and it does look good. I've looked at them before. Don't get me wrong, there's lots of nice ones out there, but all I really want is the same little round rod that I have, but chrome. My only problem is that just out of spite, I'm not paying $100 for one. Just more than it's worth. Not like there is ever anything on these bikes that are cheap...
