There's a small **** on the end of the plunger that can get broken off of the switch when reinstalling the lever without a shim. When that happens it shortens the length of the plunger causing it not to be engaged unless you push the lever forward to compensate for the shortened plunger. Have you taken the lever off before and not shimmed it? If so I can almost guarantee that you broke the switch. If you push in the lever and look behind it with a flashlight you should be able to see the plunger. If it sits even with the rubber boot around it then the **** on the end has been broken off. I have seen the switches for sale on eBay for $20 or $68 at the dealer. You will have to cut the old one off and solder the new one on.

not sure what cable you'd adjust to make the ft. brake lever return? maybe the clutch lever...but not the ft. brake lever......steve
