Default Changing hand levers

Has anyone had this problem when changing the clutch and brake levers? The left side went fine, but the right side is a pain. Once I insert the pin the brake light switch doesn’t work, is their something I’m doing wrong? Yeah maybe that's why isn’t not working? Any help?

Sometimes the brake light switch tab on the lever sticks into the rubber switch cover. When you insert the lever, it should go smoothly, you should not have to force it into the bracket.

Take the brake lever off and depress the switch to make sure that it is still working. If it is, then next, check the rubber boot to make sure that it is in tact and not ripped. If all is well....Take your time and slide the lever in with a piece of thin cardboard inbetween the lever and the switch. After you get the pin installed in the lever...slide the cardboard out and you should be good to go. Just take your time and you will get it.

Good luck.

I have not gone out to look at my bike, but on my Jap Bikes, you have to push the brake switch in, then mount the lever, otherwise that little plunger just sorta flops around, and never connects...

just be calm and if you kinda swing it in it seems to work easier, at least that how I got mine in.

Be very carful you can break the plunger (break light shitch) then its all gotta come out and you have to replace it. In the manual the say to stick a piece of cardboard between the level and the plundger BEFORE you remove it. Good luck and I highly recomend you buy a manual. Its good for looking at before you start any project to prevent little suprises like this one.

Yeah I did do it IAW the manual with inserting the peice of stock between the lever. If the pin is seated all the way in it doesn't work, but if the pin is not flush it works. That's not good [IMG][/IMG]. I remember the HD parts guy said you'll be back; when I got these levers.[IMG][/IMG]. Anyway thanks for all the info
