Bout to buy some rims, going to either 21/3.5 or 23/3.5 with an 18/4.25 in the back. Do any of you all have a 23 your rides? the only threads I can find is in the touring models, and all you get is people ragging the 23. So if anyone has a 23 can you tell me the difference in handling, over the 21? would you buy it or the 21?
If i get the 21 im going with a 120 tire, all i have found is a 130 for the 23. im wondering how hard it is to get your hands on tires also.
anyway, thanks for any replies, opinions, and if you can post pics of a 23 i would be stoked!!
Roland Sands put a 23" on a Rocker and it looks good. Thinking of putting a 23 on my Rocker. Hogpro also has a picture of a Deuce with a 23 on their site.
I've seen 23's on baggers, look cool. On a chopped Sportster, looked cool. I would just check on the wheel's weight (specially if it is a machined one, versus a spoked) and see suspension clearance (front travel) chances are that you may want to lower the front and end up with a pretty bumpy ride.
Buddy of mine is/ maybe was putting a 23 on a shovel FL that he is customizing. Won't be the same with your FX forks but maybe it will help?
He is contemplating switching to a 21 though now as we all thought the 23 would be to big. But after seeing those photo's above.... I will have to show him those.
yeah that green bike is **** man. And i looked at that pic of the blue and white deuce on hogpro, those 23's just look bad ***. Thats the way im wanting to go. ive got a new rear fender already, old school gangster type. 16" apes just got ordered. Ive been looking at a lot of wrap around fenders for the front, but am not sure on the measurements just yet. Im waiting on the rims to put the lowering shocks on it and the rear fender. gotta love winter mods.
I hope they don't mind me posting 'bout their sick a$$ rides, but I believe that HDForums members DarkTrak and 2DAKERB are running 23's on their front. You may wanna hit them up.
I ran a 23" hogpro lemans on my 08 fatboy when I sold it. It came with the 17", I changed over to a 19" lemans, then upgraded that to the 23. Now I have a 21" Ride Wright on my Deluxe so I can pretty much give ya the scoop on the rides lol. I ran the 23 on my Fat boy with no front fender and the *** end slammed. It rode suprisingly good. I really cant tell much of a difference between the 21 and 23. They were VERY stable at speeds. The 19 (not that your considering that) turned a little better, but by no means was the 23 hard to ride and still turned very well in the twisties. Ill dig a pic up.
Here is a pic of my old fatboy with the 23. NO, thats not me, thats the guy I sold it to and his daughter, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. The Front tire is a 130 Avon and the rear is the matching lemans 18x5.5 with a 200 metzler.
