Im looking at getting the thundermax for my 07 night train, is it really that much better than the others out there for the price, and where is the cheapest place to get them? thanks.
Do a search. Numerous threads on this, both here and in the EFI area of this forum.
I love mine. Once I got it dialed in, I've not had to mess with it again and bike runs like a dream. Had some minor decel pop that wouldn't tune out by itself, but adjusted it out with the help of a T-Max guru here. Might also want to check out Harley Tech Talk forum for more input and expertise on this unit.
There are some minor downsides to T-Max, such as losing your DTE meter and the speedometer going out every once in awhile. It's happened to me few times, but my bike runs so well that these little annoyances are inconsequential to me.
If I had it to do again, tho, I'd probably go with the DynoJet Power Vision. I personally think this little technological wonder is the future of EFI tuning and will render all others obsolete.

I have had mine for two years now and have had no problems with it. There is a new firmware upgrade out that gives you back the DTE on your speedo now. As suggested Harley Tech has some really good techs on their that are real fimiliar with the Tmax. I suggest getting the auto tune feature as it makes adjustments as you ride and you can go into the program yourself and tell it to accept the changes and reset it and it will keep doing this until it reaches the best tune for your bike.
Youtube has a couple of really good videos by a guy named Mayor who really explains how to set up the system and get the best results right off the bat. Good luck with your project.

Mayor is one of the gurus on HTT, too, so you can talk to him there directly, if you have any questions about his vids.
Have had mine for 2 years and really like it. Once you become familiar with it, tuning is extremely easy. The only issues I have had is the typical speedo signal loss and the auto tune module took a dump on me last year. The staff at Zippers was awesome and took care of me right. I replaced a PC III with the TMax AT a few years ago and haven't regretted it. It has worked great, and until this year when I added the cams I haven't had to touch it. Also, I've never had the speedometer issues that some reported.
The PowerVision sounds like it is going to be the next gen tuner, but as it is brand new and still hasn't had all the parts and pieces delivered to market (auto tuner in particular) and road tested for a while, the jury will still be out.

Sarge ... can you give some details on the firmware upgrade you noted? All I am aware of is a procedure that Zippers put out to restore DTE and ... it does not work for my cable throttle Fatboy. I tried working out the procedure various times with Zippers .. but DTE never restored. The Zippers tech never mentioned a firmware upgrade and there is none available from their website. Maybe they were holding out on me ...
I am about to install one on my Fatboy, along with a complete stage II. Where do I find the maps at, on zippers website?
For the OP the going rate for a used one one here is about $350. I got a brand new TMAx w/autotune, from a guy on here for $500.
