Default 2007 Flstf fork oil

Changed out my front forks to chrome on my fatboy, what fork oil is the best to go with, how much goes in, and do you just pour it in the top?

I dont have a manual for this bike so any help I would appreciate it.

Hi, The book calls for 13.4 oz. I used hd fork oil as I wanted to get everything at one time. Just pour it in from the top. hope this helps. Mike

1 - Buy the manual, it's worth every penny.
2 - While your at it swap out the fork springs with Progressive's.
3 - Harley sells three grades of fork oil, Light, Medium and Heavy.
I use medium but I weigh 260.
4 - Use the inches from the top method outlined in the manual, it's the most accurate, but 13.4 is close enough.

Result is no more clunk, bottoming or topping out. Great ride.

I used heavy oil. I have a 2oz syringe from walmart used for filling automotive batteries. it was easy to use measure out the proper amount. I am not sure you can use the inches from the top method, with the tubes in the trees.

I believe you are correct, the inches from the top method can't easily be done with the tubes in the tree, but he's swapping the lowers for chrome so he's more than half way there.

Your syringe method is the cleanest if you just changing the oil.

In my '09 Heritage I used 13.4 oz Screaming Eagle "HEAVY" in each leg. Lone rider @ 250 pounds of well trim muscle. Add the oil slowly thru a small funnel. Suggest you get a factory manual. I would have never known to use NEW drain plugs without it. Manual calls for new gaskets for top also. Search forum for bike speciffic instructions if you don't want want 60.$ manual. Good help from forum but sometime not same as manual. I used a kitchen measuring cup for the amount.

Their #10 is not bad, better than stock. Their #5 is way to light for me.

I wish they made a #15.

HD's oil STD = #7.5 SE = #15 and SE Heavy = #20

The manual says 13.4 oz or 4.41 inch if you use the inch method. Like others said the inch method is not practical with the fork on the bike. I used HD oil when I replaced my lowers to chrome.
By the way you can buy a PDF version of the manual for less than $10.00 on E-bay all day long. Instant download too.
