If i buy one of these do i need to take my bike to HD to have them install it or is it a DIY tuner? I dont really want to take my bike to them ,is it just a plug in and tune type of tuner?
Yep, just DIY. BUT make sure you get the screamin eagle super pro tuner that requires the tuning software and cable. There is one box out there that only allows the dealer to upload a canned map, and you don't want that!
More info would be nice,, what bike, yr, What have U done to the motor so far.?
If U get the pro tuner IMO I wouldn't just go with canned map, U wont get a great tune like U will with a good dyno tune, usually the maps just end up being a so-so tune plus U have to hope it works good with Ur set up..
I had the SERT installed at the sg1 at 1k service. only takes 1hr labor to install, IF U hook it up wrong and mess it up U'll spend a lot more than what the labor cost would be.
IMO the super pro sert is one of the best tuneable F/M systems, so why pay for it then go cheap with a canned map...
there are other self tune systems now, 4 yrs ago there wasn't..
do Ur homework and read up on what the others choices are and then decide.
