I pulled mine off (although you can see it below in my sig pic - more pics on my profile page), but I am thinking of peeling off the rubber footrests, blacking it out (along with some other choice parts) and slapping it back on. Not only do I think it would look pretty cool, but I am going from stock bars to 18" apes and want to have an engine guard on there at least until I get used to how it handles.
I have a set on mine and I'm pleased with both the looks and function. Don't know if your's is a lo or a standard, if it's a lo then it may look better powdercoated rather than chrome.
I also put some foot pegs on the outside of mine that work real good. Your running boards will scrape before the guard will.
Not a FB, but like them on our Heritage.. saved some damage from happening once when foot slipped in garage and she started over,, the guard held her up and kept her from going to the ground.. saved some $$$ on that one. Mine is the Nostalgic type though.
